Mamiya 645 Sekor-C Cine-Modded Set
The Mamiya Sekor-Cs are some of the most beautiful portrait lenses ever created. Originally designed for medium format portrait photography, this 7-lens set has been adapted for use on today’s modern large format cinema cameras.
This set is not a simple cine mod, where a focus gear is attached to the lens, but a hybrid of cine mod and rehousing. This is a very lightweight set and can keep a camera package weight down. They also play very well on smaller cameras like the Ronin 4D.
This set has the option to have either the lenses in standard PL or is supplied with a Kippon 0.7 PL Focal Reducer. This opens up the possibility to have a medium format field of view on cameras like the ARRI LF.
This has quite an advantage as it turns the 7 lens set into 14 different focal lengths to choose from. Using the Kippon “speedbooster” and increasing the field of view of the lens you also are gaining one stop of light. This piece of glass is so nice that TLS has chosen it for their Mamiya rehousing service. Instead of permanently baking it in the housing this set can be customised on the fly by the cinematographer whilst also keeping the weight and size off the lenses down.
